Date Details - An Explanation

The previous post which shows the mini-app I built serves multiple purposes:

  1. It was an example of using the date chooser to pass a value to a CFC and return various information about the date. Click a date and the details will be updated.
  2. To share the code and the data.  There is an Excel spreadsheet that has all the date information ranging from 1/1/2000 to 12/31/2060.  You can import it into Access/SQL Server and I assume other databases. We use this data all the time for reports and calculations (depreciated value).
  3. To test the possibility of placing Flex examples in my blog.  Others have done it and I am working on a new blog where this will be critical.

Old Photo Revisited - How it was done

Mike asked if I could post the original and the tweaks I used.  Here is  a mini-tutorial on how it was done.

Old Photo Revisited

This is an old photo (2004) that with a few simple Photoshop tweak looks significantly better.  If I would have only know how to do them back then.

Moment of Truth in Iraq

READ THIS BOOK!

Michael Yon's New Book, Moment of Truth Available Now!

It could be the most important book written in the past few years, and speaks as much about America and what it means to be an American as it does about the war in Iraq.  Our presidential candidates need to read it and understand its implications.

Restaurantica

I stumbled across a new website I like very much.  The site, Restaurantica, is another site for finding what I like best, good food.  It needs your input.  If you have a favorite restaurant you can rate it or if it is not there you can add it.  I have asked their web team about a website widget and they are considering it.  To me this is a great marketing tool for community websites to attract new and repeat website traffic.

Wild Kingdom

In a chance photo, my son and I had an opportunity to see this blue heron while walking through Antietam National Battlefield.  Unfortunately, it took off as I was trying to reposition and I didn't get a shot with its wings fully extended.
